Prima was named after a favorite ski run in its home of the beautiful Rocky Mountains. Prima values responsible development of energy reserves. We rely on our technical expertise and wealth of experience to reduce risk and unlock value within an ever-changing energy landscape.
Focus
Prima is debt free and pursuing acquisitions with a focus on assets in the
Delaware, Powder River, and Williston basins. Ideal acquisitions include a
mixture of PDP and PUD locations in the form of operating working interest or
minerals. Prima is amenable to many deal structures and is happy to entertain
farm-in opportunities as well as cash purchases. We pride ourselves on rapid
evaluation work and the ability to quickly close deals.
History
Prima Exploration was incorporated in 1980. Through its lifetime, Prima has generated
and drilled prospects in the DJ, Kansas, Green River, Powder River, and Williston basins.
The early years saw a focus on the acquisition and exploitation of producing properties
with a focus on increasing profitability of the wells. In 1995 our focus shifted to drilling.
Prima participated in the drilling of several hundred coalbed methane wells in the
Powder River Basin. We also implemented a Red River horizontal well waterflood in the
Williston Basin. Prima participated in the drilling of the first horizontal Bakken wells in
Mountrail County in 2005, a prospect generated by Prima. The following years have
seen a continued operating presence in the Williston Basin and Powder River Basin as
well as an expansion into the Delaware Basin.
