Meet the Team!

Don Law founded Prima Exploration in 1980. Prior to Prima’s formation, Don worked at the Dowell Division of Dow Chemical and The Western Company of N.A., designing frac jobs. Don is a proud Member of the All-American Wildcatters, a Trustee at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science, and Co-Chair of ACE Scholarships. Outside of leading Prima, Don is a passionate vintner, golfer, and cyclist. As a lifelong Coloradan, Don is an avid skier. Don graduated with a BS in Engineering from Colorado State University, where he is currently a Distinguished Alumni as well as a past member of the Engineering Dean’s Council. Don is a Certified Professional Engineer in the State of Colorado.

Brian Law recently took the reins as Prima Exploration’s CEO after serving as Business Development Manager and Vice President of Operations. Brian began his career as a consulting engineer in the natural gas midstream sector, designing and building processing plants, compressor stations, and pipelines. Brian joined Prima in September 2010 to support its efforts to build a produced water gathering system and disposal facility. He then transitioned to upstream operations. Since, he has become involved in greenfield development, product marketing, and acquisitions and divestitures. Outside of work, Brian is passionate about soccer and skiing, and enjoys whitewater kayaking, mountain biking, backpacking, and golf. Brian holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Colorado School of Mines and is a Certified Professional Engineer in the State of Colorado.

David Rhodes serves as Prima Exploration’s Vice President of Exploitation. David began his career consulting as a reservoir and operations engineer for Quantum Resources Management. After joining Prima as a consultant in 2009, David quickly became a full-time employee whose focus was on reservoir, acquisitions and divestitures, and operations engineering. Over time, his role evolved into its current iteration, with a focus on exploitation of company properties through reservoir engineering, A&D, and drilling and completions operations. David, a lifelong Coloradoan, enjoys golf, hunting, and is passionate about youth sports coaching and development. David graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Engineering from Colorado School of Mines.

Jennifer Metcalfe began working at Prima Exploration in August 2021, and brought a wealth of experience as a leader of oil and gas accounting groups. After working in public accounting after college, Jennifer joined a Denver-based public oil and gas company in 2005, specializing in SEC and Financial Reporting. Since 2010, Jennifer has been an oil and gas controller for various public sector and private equity companies. Jennifer enjoys hiking, golfing, fishing, paddle boarding, and most of all, spending time with her husband and two children. Born and raised in Colorado, Jennifer is a passionate Colorado Avalanche, Denver Nuggets, and Denver Broncos fan. Jennifer graduated with a BS in Business Administration – Accounting from the University of Colorado, Denver. She has an active Colorado CPA License.

Ron Solt began his tenure with Prima Exploration in October 2021. After graduating from law school, Ron joined an E&P major, headquartered in Houston, where he worked on operations and acquisition and divestiture teams for assets in South and East Texas. Ron has provided extensive land and business development support on projects all over the lower 48 states and Alaska. Ron is an enthusiastic golfer and traveler. He enjoys visiting family in his home state of Nebraska, spending time with friends, and hanging out with his bulldog, Bubs. Ron holds a Bachelor of Business in Finance from Western Illinois University, and a Juris Doctorate from South Texas College of Law.
